Doors that shut properly ten years in

Composite, aluminium, French, patio and fire-rated doors, supplied and fitted with multipoint locking to PAS 24 standards.

Overview

What you need to know

A door is the one part of a house that gets used thousands of times a year, and it is where cheap components show up fastest. Hinges drop, the latch stops catching, and within three winters you are lifting the handle to get the lock to throw.

We fit doors with hardware chosen for that lifespan rather than for the quote — Yale and Winkhaus multipoint locking, adjustable hinges that can be trimmed later, and cylinders that meet TS007 three-star anti-snap standards on external doors.

The frame matters as much as the leaf. A composite door hung in a frame that has twisted with the opening will never sit right, so we survey the aperture, check the threshold level and correct anything structural before manufacture.

Options

Styles and specifications

Composite doors

A solid timber or foam core with a GRP skin. Best all-round front door: warm, secure, and it will not warp or need painting.

Aluminium doors

Slim frames, large glass areas and serious rigidity. The right answer for wide or contemporary openings.

French doors

A pair of outward or inward opening doors, ideal where the opening is 1.2m to 1.8m and a slider would be overkill.

Sliding patio doors

Two, three or four panels running on a track. Full detail on our sliding doors page.

Front doors

Colour, glazing, letterplate, hardware and threshold specified together, with a security cylinder as standard.

Back doors

Usually simpler and more practical, but the same locking standard — back doors are where most break-ins start.

Fire-rated doors

FD30 and FD60 sets with intumescent seals and certified ironmongery for flats, HMOs and commercial premises.

Security doors

Enhanced specification with laminated glass, reinforced frames and three-star cylinders for exposed or high-risk properties.

FAQ

Doors questions

A single door is typically half a day, including removing the old frame, fitting, adjusting and sealing. A French or patio set is usually a full day.

The door leaf is generally tougher, but security comes mostly from the locking, cylinder and frame fixing. A well-specified uPVC door beats a poorly fitted composite one.

Yes, specified at manufacture. Cutting into a finished composite door afterwards can invalidate its warranty, so it is better decided upfront.

Flat entrance doors onto a communal corridor almost always require FD30S. If you are unsure, send us the address and we will tell you what applies.

Very common in older houses. We survey it, allow for the discrepancy in the frame size, and pack and seal to a level line rather than following the wonky opening.
