Frequently asked questions
Twenty-five things customers ask before ordering glazing, answered properly. If yours is not here, call us — we would rather explain it once than have you guess.
Quotes and pricing
Call us, use the quote form, or email photos and rough sizes. For anything beyond a single unit we will book a free site survey, and you get a written itemised price afterwards.
No. Surveys and quotes are free with no obligation, and we do not ask for a deposit until you have accepted a written price.
Sixty days. If material prices move significantly within that window we absorb it — the number on your quote is the number on your invoice.
Usually because there is no commission-based salesperson in the chain and no discount that halves if you do not sign that evening. Our first price is our price.
We will look at a like-for-like quote and tell you honestly whether it is comparable. Often it is not — the difference is in glass specification, locking and who does the fitting.
Typically a deposit on order, a stage payment when manufacture completes, and the balance on satisfactory completion. Small orders are often a single payment.
Products and specification
Aluminium gives slimmer frames and more glass, and suits large or contemporary openings. uPVC gives better value and excellent thermal performance in standard domestic sizes.
For noise and for genuinely cold elevations, often yes. For a typical sheltered wall the gain over a good A-rated double unit is modest and the extra weight is real.
Sealed units built in-house using Saint-Gobain and Pilkington glass, with low-emissivity coatings, warm-edge spacers and argon fill as standard.
Yes, on both aluminium and uPVC. Dual colour is a common choice — anthracite outside, white inside.
Where Building Regulations require them, yes. We will tell you at survey whether your job falls under the requirement.
In most cases, including bar layouts and colour. If a match will only be approximate we will say so before you order rather than after.
Installation
A single door is half a day, a full house of windows two to three days, a bifold set one to two days, and a roof lantern typically one day onto a prepared upstand.
No. We remove and replace opening by opening rather than stripping everything out first, so the property is never left exposed.
Yes, removal and disposal of the old units is included unless you have specifically asked to keep them.
Some dust is unavoidable, but sheets go down before anything is touched and we clear up at the end of each day.
Someone over 18 needs to be present at the start and end of the installation. You do not need to be there for the whole job.
We finish neatly to the existing reveal and seal the perimeter. Full replastering is available as an extra where the old frames have damaged the internal finish.
Guarantees and aftercare
Ten years on the installation, a manufacturer warranty on sealed units, and five years on moving parts such as hinges, handles and rollers.
Yes. If you sell the property the remaining cover passes to the new owner.
Ring us. Adjustments and warranty visits are handled by our own fitters, normally within a fortnight.
Keep tracks and drainage slots clear, wipe seals occasionally, and put a drop of light oil on hinges once a year. That covers almost everything.
Practical questions
London, Essex, Hertfordshire and north Kent for domestic work, with commercial projects taken further afield depending on scale.
Yes. Around a third of our output is supply-only to builders and developers, with account pricing and scheduled deliveries.
Not usually for like-for-like replacement. Listed buildings, some conservation areas and certain rooflight positions do need consent — we will flag it at survey.
