A glass workshop that decided to do the fitting too

EV Glass Design Ltd was set up to close the gap between the people who make glass and the people who install it. Twelve years later that is still the whole idea.

Our story

Started on a cut table, not in a showroom

The company began the way most glass businesses do — one cutting table, one van, and work that came in by word of mouth from builders around Ilford. What changed things was a decision most processors avoid: taking responsibility for the installation as well as the glass.

It is harder to run. It also means nobody can blame anybody else. If a unit is 3mm out, we remake it. If a hinge drops six months later, the person who fitted it comes back. Customers noticed, and the domestic side of the business grew from there.

Today we work out of Pegasus Works on Hainault Business Park, with a processing floor, a frame assembly bay and installation teams covering London, Essex and the Home Counties. Around a third of what leaves the building goes to trade customers; the rest we fit ourselves.

Pegasus Works, Ilford

Mission

Make and fit glass that performs exactly as specified, at a price that is the same on the invoice as it was on the quote.

Vision

To be the glazing company London builders recommend without being asked — because the work never comes back.

Quality promise

Every unit is inspected before it leaves the floor. Anything with a mark, a bow or a bad edge is remade, not fitted and argued about.

Core values

Four things we do not bend on

Measure twice

Every opening is surveyed by the person responsible for it. No sizes taken over the phone.

Say the real date

If the lead time is five weeks we say five weeks, even when a competitor is promising three.

Leave it clean

Sheets down, old frames removed, silicone lines cut in properly. The job is not finished until the site is.

Answer the callback

Adjustments and warranty visits go to our own fitters, usually within a fortnight.
