What you need to know
Bifolds do one thing better than any other system: they get out of the way completely. Fold the panels back and the wall between kitchen and garden simply is not there any more, which is why they took over rear extensions in the first place.
The configuration matters more than most people expect. Which side the panels stack, whether there is a traffic door for everyday use, and which way the leaves swing all get decided at survey — because a set that stacks in front of the barbecue or blocks a side return is a mistake you live with for twenty years.
We use thermally broken aluminium systems with stainless running gear and multipoint locking on the lead door. Frames are powder-coated to any RAL reference, and you can have a different colour inside and out.

Styles and specifications
Four and five panel sets
The standard extension width, 3m to 4.5m. Common splits are 3+1 or 4+1 with the traffic door on the practical side.
Six and seven panel sets
Wide openings above 4.5m, often stacked to both ends to keep individual panels manageable.
Traffic door
One panel that opens on its own like a normal door. Almost always worth including.
Stacking direction
Panels can fold inward or outward and stack left, right or both. Chosen on site against the room layout.
Threshold options
Weathered, low or flush. Flush looks best; weathered performs best on exposed elevations. We will be straight with you about the trade-off.
Colours and finishes
Any RAL powder coat, dual colour, matt or textured, with a range of handle finishes.

Bifold Doors questions
As a broad guide, a supplied and fitted three-panel aluminium set typically starts around £4,500 and a six-panel set around £8,500, depending on glass, colour and threshold. Your survey gives the real number.
Roughly 100mm of stack depth per panel. A five-panel set folded to one side sits about half a metre proud of the reveal.
Often yes, but the lintel needs to be right. Folding sets concentrate load at the hinge points, so we check the head at survey.
Only if they are not adjusted. Hinges and rollers need a check every couple of years, which takes minutes and is included in the first service visit.
Typically four to six weeks from signed survey to installation for a standard RAL colour, longer for special finishes.
